Plumbing contractors face risk from every direction—from the work performed on a jobsite and the vehicles traveling the road each day to customer disputes, construction defect claims, contracts, and unexpected gaps in insurance coverage. This educational session is designed specifically for plumbers, plumbing business owners, and managers who want practical information to help protect their companies, employees, assets, and bottom line.
The evening will bring together insurance and legal perspectives to examine some of the most common—and potentially costly—risks facing plumbing contractors today.
From an insurance and risk management perspective, attendees will learn about plumber-specific third-party liability coverage, including how coverage is triggered and how claims are handled once negligence is accepted. We'll also take a closer look at high-rise plumbing work, weighing the potential rewards against the increased exposures contractors should consider before taking on these projects.
The discussion will also address Florida Statute 558 and construction defect claims, what the statute means for plumbing contractors, and how becoming involved in a defect claim can impact your business. Fleet safety and liability will also be covered, with practical considerations for reducing accidents and protecting your drivers, vehicles, and company.
Another important area of discussion will be Mold & Waste Coverage, better known as Pollution Coverage. Contractors will gain a better understanding of pollution exclusions and potential coverage gaps that may exist in a standard liability policy, along with real-world exposures involving mold, sewage, chemicals, and other jobsite contaminants.
The program will then explore the legal side of protecting your plumbing business, with topics including contracts that can help protect contractors before work begins, proper documentation and recordkeeping, change orders, payment disputes and lien rights, Florida construction defect claims and dispute resolution, common legal mistakes contractors make, and knowing when to involve an attorney before a problem escalates.
By looking at risk through both an insurance and legal lens, this program will provide contractors with practical strategies for preventing problems, reducing exposure, protecting their businesses when problems do occur, and making more informed decisions before accepting risk.
This presentation is ideal for plumbing contractors, business owners, managers, and anyone responsible for operations, contracts, risk management, insurance, or company vehicles.
